You’ve probably heard it over and over again…
Sell digital products!!
It’s great that there’s so many digital products out there to sell, but which is the best one?
After making over $8 million in digital product sales, I’m here to share my favorite one that you can make and sell using just the knowledge inside your head!
So what is my favorite digital product to make passive income in your online business or side hustle?
An online workshop!
Need an audience to sell your online workshop to? Check out my Email Builder Toolkit!!
Let’s look at my 3 step framework for creating and selling your own online workshop!
Step 1: Survey Your Audience
Before you invest time into making a workshop that nobody wants to watch, survey your audience.
Now before you say, “but Molly, I don’t have an audience!” you can grow one and it doesn’t have to be big.
I recommend an email list of 100 subscribers or more to launch your survey to.
Here’s how to create your survey:
- Create your survey questions. Choose 3-4 questions that will uncover your audience’s biggest pain points or challenges.
- Put your survey questions into a form software. Google Forms is great! It’s free and simple and even allows you to populate your answers into a Google spreadsheet.
- Send your survey. Create 1-2 simple emails asking your email subscribers to take your survey. You can even offer to send them a free after for taking the time to fill it out.
Step 2: Choose Your Online Workshop Topic.
The topic and title of your workshop are really important.
After you get some survey responses, check out the answers.
Notice the common threads in the answers and which same responses came up over and over again.
This should give you 3-6 different online workshop ideas to choose from.
The best one to pick is something that is a big enough problem that people are willing to pay to solve it.
Once you choose your topic, head over to an A.I. tool like ChatGPT and share 2-3 ideas for your workshop title.
Ask ChatGPT to come up with a few more and voila! You’ve got your workshop title!
Step 3: Sell Your Online Workshop
Now that you’ve chosen your online workshop topic and title, you’re ready to sell it!
All you need to sell your online workshop is:
- Your Title & Topic
- A short description
- A few bullets of what they’ll learn
- A checkout page
- An email confirmation
My favorite tool to create checkout pages is Systeme.io (you can download a free account here).
If you’re hosting your online digital workshop live, make sure to put the date and time on your checkout form.
If you’re hosting it live, choose software like Zoom, GoogleMeet or WebinarJam and share the link in their confirmation.
Then set up your email confirmation providing the info on how your guests can access the workshop.
Or if you’re pre-recording it, you can use Systeme.io to host the recording.
Pro Tips for Your Online Workshop
- Do use scarcity and urgency to sell it. You can add a countdown timer to your registration page. Or offer a limited number of seats. Or a lower price for the first certain number of people that buy it.
- Record your online workshop. If you’re hosting your online workshop live, make sure to hit record. Then you can easily sell it later as a digital product for passive income.
- Test out different workshop topics. Remember your survey? Test out different online workshop topics to your audience. See which one sells best and which one converts to the offer you make on your workshop.
In Conclusion
After generating over $8 million in digital product sales online, my favorite digital product is an online workshop.
It’s fun to create, engages your audience, and can be turned into an automated webinar to make you passive income online.
